The Great Canada Trip Of 1999!The Complete Pictorial HistoryQuick Links: Morris to Fergus | Fergus to Winger | Winger to Thief River | Thief River to KarlstadKarlstad to Canadian Border | Canadian Border to First Canadian Town | First Canadian Town to Winnipeg Winnipeg to Canadian Bacon | Canadian Bacon to Morris, Manitoba | Morris, Manitoba to North Dakota Morris, MN to Fergus Falls, MN![]() Shown here at Coborn's of Morris is Brian...and his trusty foreign exchange student, Oskar, fueling the pimpmobile. ![]() Here's a provocative photo of Brian's Hawaiian Dashboard Girl. We'll see more of her later. ![]() Here's Brian and a complete stranger. This man was the one who so thoroughly gave us directions to Canada (when we stopped in Barrett and asked, even though we knew how to get there). ![]() Have you recently lost a pair of shoes? There's a pair on the road just north of Barrett, MN, as you can see from this quick stop. ![]() Shortly before we asked the proprietor of this fine used car dealership how to find the giant otter in Fergus Falls, we asked him how much he wanted for this fine automobile shown behind Brian and Oskar. Unfortunately, he didn't own it and wasn't able to quote a price. We'll go back, someday. ![]() When we finally got to the park where this giant otter resides, we just had to take a picture! ![]() Here's Oskar on top of the otter. He got the first picture because he was the first one to scale the beast. ![]() Once Matt mounted the otter, he took time to quickly pose. He's available, girls. Don't miss your opportunity! ![]() Once Brian conquered the vicious beast, he took the opportunity to ride it around for a while. Fergus Falls, MN to Winger, MN![]() Matt got bored about the time we reached Pelican Rapids, MN, and came up with this crazy idea for the Ken doll Brian had in his car...and the Hawaiian Dashboard Girl to hook up, rather literally. ![]() Having seen the many signs advertising Shooting Star Casino, we decided to stop by. We stayed for about five minutes and dropped a whopping ten cents into the place before leaving. But, we can now say that we were there. ![]() When we reached Winger, MN, Oskar again had to pee...and we noticed this nifty statue of a polar bear. Matt and Brian took pictures while Oskar was gone. Here's a provocative pose by Brian. ![]() Matt was not as lucky as Brian. He was trapped within the stucco (or concrete, whatever) bear's clutches...bound to die. Miraculously he was able to get away and drive the car. Winger, MN to Thief River Falls, MN![]() Matt was driving at the time, and Brian took the opportunity to quick snap a picture of this interesting name for a convenience store. ![]() On Highway 59 in Thief River Falls...we saw our first sign to include Canada. Only 72 miles left to go! ![]() Well, since Matt was driving...and since Matt had to pee, he pulled over on a gravel side road... Oskar took this opportunity to empty his bladder as well while Brian snapped a shot. Thief River Falls, MN to Karlstad, MN![]() Matt snapped this quick picture pointing out that Canada was ahead. ![]() On Highway 59 in Karlstad...we saw our second mileage sign to Canada. Only 34 left! ![]() Karlstad must be moose country...or the town mascot is a moose. Regardless, Matt had his picture taken next to this mighty (yet friendly) beast. Karlstad, MN to Canadian Border![]() Lancaster -- The last town in Minnesota to be travelled through on our way to Canada. ![]() Fortunately we planned it out and didn't try to get to Canada at 1 AM. ![]() Only a half mile to go! Canada...here we come! ![]() Is this Canada, perhaps? We had to stop and ask the nice man. Canadian Border to First Canadian Town (Tolstoi)![]() Welcome to Manitoba. This was a bittersweet moment, as we drove onto foreign soil. ![]() This is valuable information to know. We wouldn't want to get thrown into Canadian jail for speeding. ![]() Here's a Canadian farm...with real Canadian cows! ![]() This was the first Canadian town we drove through. Again, a bittersweet moment. First Canadian Town (Tolstoi) to Winnipeg![]() Here's Brian...while driving in Canada. ![]() Here's the first gas station we utilized in Canada. Actually, it was the only gas station we utilized in Canada. ![]() Gas looks pretty cheap in Canada. We spent more on gas at this one place than we did at Perkins in Winnipeg. ![]() Here's a profile of Matt while driving into downtown Winnipeg. ![]() This is a Canadian Bank...in downtown Winnipeg. Matt used to live in a house...looked a lot like that. Winnipeg to Canadian Bacon![]() This was taken while Matt was driving. We don't know where it is, but it's in Winnipeg somewhere. ![]() Here's the porn shop where we stopped to get directions in/out of the downtown area. We figured that anyone at this place would know.
![]() Food -- Perkins of Winnipeg. We went here because Matt knew he could get breakfast (and bacon) 24/7. ![]() Now, this is the real thing: Canadian Bacon. Looks a lot like American Bacon if you ask us. Canadian Bacon to Morris, Manitoba![]() The north end of Morris, Manitoba. ![]() Matt and Oskar posing in front of the Morris, Manitoba sign. ![]() Matt and Brian doing the same thing...before the giant Morris, Manitoba sign. ![]() A smaller sign stating the Morris population. Morris, Manitoba to North Dakota![]() Here's Matt at the US/Canada border -- literally. ![]() Matt and Brian at the US/Canada border. ![]() Welcome to North Dakota -- once we passed through customs.
